With the encouragement and support of President Theodore Roosevelt, The Navy League of the United States was formed to disseminate to citizens of our nation information concerning the condition of our naval and maritime forces. The objective and purpose of the Navy League was simple – to educate and motivate the American people. The Valor Podcast’s Nick Layman sits down with Lieutenant Commander (RET) Damon Runyan who chairs the Navy League in New Mexico on how the state was named after a Virginia class attack submarine.

- The crest of New Mexico was designed by Emilee Sena, a senior at St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her winning design was chosen by the crew of the New Mexico out of 180 submitted from schools throughout the state.
